Health Insurance Reform Summary

March 29, 2010

Dear Valued Leonard Insurance Business Partner,

On Sunday, March 21st, the House of Representatives passed HR 3590; also known as Senate Bill or Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590); which the President signed it into Law on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010.

In addition, the House also passed a reconciliation bill on March 21st, 2010; Health Care & Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 (H.R. 4872), which contains a package of “fixes” to the Senate bill and currently is in Senate Debate.

The attached summary was created to address and answer some of your questions and concerns at this time. While each segment of the new law outline may not apply to you directly, they all apply to the health care industry as we know it. We encourage you to be mindful of the outlined timeframes, as the majority of items will not affect us for some time to come; however strategic business planning and decisions will need to take place.

As your trusted benefits planning professional, we are receiving regular updates and will summarize and forward to you.

Please, keep in mind that there are still many unknowns. We are looking forward to many clarifications and fully expect that we will see changes to the Law in the days and weeks to come.

Thank you for your continued business with Leonard Insurance Services. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any additional questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Leonard Insurance Services
